Student Talks
Sep 30 @ 1:30 pm – 3:00 pm

Students will have their first block of time to present their work in conference rooms inside the Optical Sciences Building.

Coffee Break
Sep 30 @ 3:00 pm – 3:30 pm

Snacks and Coffee will be provided in the 3rd floor lobby of the optics building in this brief social time.

Student Talks
Sep 30 @ 3:30 pm – 5:00 pm

This is the second block of time for students to present to their colleagues in conference rooms throughout the optics building.

Dinner + Keynote: Dr. Dae Wook Kim
Sep 30 @ 6:00 pm – 7:30 pm

Students will have an excellent dinner with a view overlooking the Arizona Wildcats Football stadium in the Dan Dunlap Stadium Club. Also, during dinner, Dr. Dae Wook Kim will present to attendees. Learn more about his work on the Featured Speakers page.

Mirror Lab and Optics Tours
Oct 1 @ 1:00 pm – 3:00 pm

We will split into two smaller groups. From 1-2, half of us will go to the Mirror Lab, and half of us will receive tours of the College of Optical Sciences, getting a chance to see labs within the building.

The mirror lab tour is of the Richard F. Caris Mirror lab, where the largest mirrors in the world are created. This guided tour will give students a behind the scenes look at how 8.4 meter mirrors are made with such incredible precision, mirrors for telescopes such as the Large Binocular Telescope, the Large Synoptic Survey Telescope, and the Giant Magellan Telescope. This is the fourth and final slot allotted for students to give their presentations.

Dinner in Downtown Tucson
Oct 1 @ 6:00 pm – 11:00 pm

We will provide students with bus passes to either take the bus or the street car downtown to have a social dinner with local optical sciences students. Students will have a chance to see Tucson’s active downtown scene and socialize.
